Don’t Ruin Your Summer By Being Lazy Over the Winter

You’re never going to be in the kind of shape Michael Phelps is in (or was in, or ever will be in), but you can at least do your part to shed a few pounds this winter and be ready to walk around at a much healthier weight next summer. Unfortunately, many people let their fitness take a back seat during the winter season.
Here are some great ways for you to shed those extra pounds this winter and look your best once it gets warm out.

  • Swimming — You can either have a custom pool designed for your home’s interior or check out some indoor pools and get your swim on. A single hour of vigorous swimming can actually burn up to 650 calories. So, although you’ll never look like Phelps, you can still train and swim in the water to burn those calories and lose all that extra weight you gained this fall. Once you develop a habit of exercising in indoor pools, you’ll have an easy way to workout for the rest of your life.
  • Don’t be a couch potato — It’s so easy to do nothing but sit, eat, and watch Netflix all winter long. Don’t. Whatever you do, you need to get off the couch and get active. Doing nothing but eating and watching TV is a surefire way to gain a significant amount of weight over the winter. Then, you’ll be forced to spend the first few weeks and months of spring and summer trying to lose that weight, rather than enjoying the weather. Do yourself a favor and don’t even look at your couch or TV until it’s late at night and you’re getting ready for bed. Otherwise, you should be getting out, eating right, and staying active.
  • Run, jog, even walk — Even if the snow is piled high, get outside and move around as much as you can. It’s going to be extremely tough at first, but it will be well worth it. Tracking through the snowfall will help build your stamina and get you in much better shape.

Don’t let yourself become lazy all winter and spend another summer losing the holiday weight. Get a head start right away and start taking care of yourself. And if you want to learn more about custom swimming pools in New Jersey, contact Swimmor today.
