Pools give us so much fun, relaxation, and happy summer memories. They do require something in return, though – regular attention and care. To keep your pool in optimal condition and your pool water looking swimmable and pristine, you need to consistently provide your pool with some TLC.
At Swim-Mor Pools & Spas, we love seeing a well-maintained pool. After all, it likely means its owners are enjoying it often! Sometimes, though, it can be difficult to remember all that’s involved in keeping a pool at its best. Remember: preventative maintenance is key! Read on to check out our list of basic tips for cleaning and maintaining your pool.
Monitor the Water Level
This is relatively easy to eye. For best results, make sure the water level is right at the center of your pool tile or skimmer. If it is too low or high, you can render your pump or skimmer ineffective or even damage it.
Clean Your Pool Filters
Depending on the filter, you can clean them once a year or as needed. If you have a particularly heavy storm, you may want to check the filters and give them a pre-emptive cleaning.
Empty Skimmer Baskets Every Week
Before leaves and other debris sink to the bottom of the pool, the skimmer is supposed to capture it. The more it can capture, the cleaner the pool.
Check Pool Chemistry
During the summer, you’ll want to check your pool chemistry once or twice every week. Generally, pH should be between 7.2 and 7.8. The lower your pH, the less chlorine should be in the pool.
